Insulating liquid for oil transformers and reactors

The insulating liquids for transformers and reactors in oil can be: mineral oil, inhibited or not for low temperatures, silicone, synthetic, vegetable oil, FR3 and others based on the customer’s requirement to limit the energy content in case of fire or to satisfy specific environmental requests. For most oils filling is carried out under vacuum in an autoclave after the isolating liquid has been degassed. The sizing and therefore the selling price of the transformer can vary with the same power based on the insulating and thermal properties of the liquid used.
